I don't believe that fashion is everything. I know it may be important right now, but looks come and go. I have never been that fashionable either, my sister (older) always wore the cutest clothes and knew just what to pick out. I on the other hand was happy in jeans and a t-shirt (still am actually) Through out high school, she seemed to have this great life, but the clothes she wore actually held her back. Her clothes restricted her. I on the other hand might not have had the cutest outfits, but I had fun! At any given time I could do anything and not worry about getting dirty or weather or not I could bend over. Which is more important to you? If it is looking cute, either ask your sister for help, or get some magazines and look through and try to find what style is for you. Watch the show "What not to wear" They thrive on helping people find their styles.

To be better

Stacy,

So often in our culture which is very looks-orientated and visual, we are taught we must get our originality from our clothes. It's true that what we wear does tell some part of the story about us, in terms of what we find important or what our personality is. Sometimes, I think we put too much emphasis on this, and I feel that we can easily allow people to see the uniqueness of who we are in other subtle ways. Maybe you like hand-me-down jewelry or you have a love of leggings. Maybe you are a natural girl and don't wear much make-up. This can be okay! Figure out what makes you smile and what is something you can have fun and also feel respected wearing and go with it. I think styles and what we do with our clothing or fashion changes with age, and also as we become more comfortable in our skin and inside, my hope is that is that it starts to matter less if people like our style.

If you look up to any other girls, maybe at church or in an activity you do, you could turn to them for advice, too. Don't worry about being a copycat unless you are actually "being" your sister too much and not letting her be herself and use her unique style to let her personality out. Maybe she would feel flattered if you used some (just some) of her ideas. Try not to worry so much about it. Let your inner self do most of the work! Good luck!

In Him,
Julie
