Struggling with self injury

by Debby

I'm struggling with self-injury. Actually I want stop doing it, but it's not that easy. At the moment I've got the feeling that I'll never be free. And I've got no one here in my real-life to speak with about this.

Thanks for your praying!

Praying for you!
by: Shelley

Debby,
Thank you for sharing your struggle with me so that I can pray for you! It sounds like you are going through a difficult time right now. I want to share a website about self injury with you called www.yourstory.info. It has a lot of different people's stories that struggle and might be an encouragement to you. I'd also like to pray for you right now.

"God, I pray for Debby right now and the struggle she is going through. I thank you that you have given her "divine power to demolish strongholds." (2 Cor 10:3-5). I also thank you that nothing Debby does can add or detract to your love. That your love is unconditional for her, that you see her true self and love her so much. I pray that Debby could begin to grasp your love for her (Eph 3:14-21). I also pray God that you would provide someone Debby can trust to be able to support her and pray for her. I thank you that you hear her and will provide what Debby needs. We pray these things in the powerful name of Jesus, Amen!"

Let me know how you are doing!

Praying for you,
Shelley

Thank you!

Dear Shelley,

I’m sorry, that I did not answer for such a long time!

Thank you very much for the homepage you shared with me. It’s a very interesting page and it’s very encouraging for me to read, that some of them were able to cope with self-injury and can now life without. And I also thank you very much for praying for me!!

At the moment I’m about almost 10 weeks without self-injury! It was not always easy, but 10 weeks, that’s a start.

Yesterday a friend of mine from school told me, that she and some other friends and (friends that aren’t friends anymore… sorry, that’s a bit complicated) of mine saw about two years ago my scars while we put on our clothes for sports. But they did not dare to ask me, but worried much about me. But now she thinks I can cope with it. I did not say to her, that’s still today a struggle, I don’t want that she worries too much about me. But she said, if I one day an in a situation and want to do it again, I should call her.

Blessings, Debby

10 weeks...wow!!
by: Shelley

Debby,
10 weeks...I'm so proud of you and I know God is too! You have decided to make some hard changes and I'm sure this has been a long, lonely road at times for you. I'm glad you were able to find some encouragement and hope at the website yourstory.info. Sometimes it's just nice to know you're not alone.

I want to encourage you to continue this journey you're on toward healing and freedom. Jesus said in John 8:36, "So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed." Claim that promise for your life!
