Sierra, making a difference

by Sierra
(Michigan)

I'm a pastors kid, and not everyone knows this but "pk's" kinda have expectations to live up to. I always feel pressured to be perfect but I'm not even close..I feel like I haven't even been living up to MY own expectations and i wanna change that. I'm tired of just sitting around telling ppl I'm a christian but not doing anything to show them how good God is.. i wanna start making a difference.

I'm a PK too :)

I'm a PK as well, and I know what you mean. I have trouble figuring out how to be myself sometimes, because the idea of having someone looking at me with disapproval is terrifying!

The pressure
by: Natalie, 14

Don't worry. Know that you just CAN"T be perfect no matter what. Just try to do what God tells you in your heart is right. Take that holy spirit you have inside of you, and release it, telling others of all the great things he has done for you. They'll see it clearly when your smiling and being there for others, and being honest with yourself and others(like u r doing right now!), and not pretending to be perfect. You can always be a better person though, but the only person who can help that is Christ. Talk to your dad about this. You need to be honest with him. Tell him about the pressure. He most likely feels it just as much or more than you do because he's the pastor. Then you two should pray that Jesus and the Holy spirit will release that pressure from you both. That all of it will be gone, and you will use that spot where you used to harbor the pressure of perfection to now harbor the love of Jesus, and use that spot to focus on him and how he's there for you. Be honest with the lord. God already knows what you're thinking and feeling. So, it's just silly to talk to him all formal like when all he wants to hear is you. All he wants to hear is your voice wanting him . He wants the real you. He loves u so much that we can't fathom it!!Hope this helped! I know the pressure you speak of, for I have felt it too. We must learn to release it, and let our hearts, Jesus, and the Holy spirit being the things pushing me to do the right thing. Not the pressure. Love outweighs the pressure to be perfect.
