Shyness

by Alex
(USA)

At school, I am always shy...but when I'm at church, and with friends that don't go to my school, I'm always funny and love to talk...why is that?

Well, most of my friends are either older than me and go to my school, or go to a different school. I've always been shy in school. And that's not the real me. It's someone I don't know. If I try to speak up, my face gets all red, and I can't speak.

I don't want to be in a shell all of my school career...how can i become more open at school, and not having everyone thinking im really weird, and feel embarrassed for me for my change of personality?

You Are Unique
by: Minister Zan

I read your story and would like to say, Please don't worry about beig weird. I talk to teens everyday and they are so concerned about what there friends think about them. This can be very dangerous, it's ok to be different and it's ok to take you time to get to know people. When I was in school I always wanted to be like by everyone. I found myself trying to fit in, you have friends at church thank God for that. Continue to be yourself and you will soon discover there is a special friend the Lord has placed in your school. It's ok and sometimes shy is being safe. Enjoy the friends you have I am sure you've developed a relationship with them. How wonderful it is to have the Lord in common.

when i was in school i was always shy untill about the 7th grade and i relized that i these people around me were not worth me changing for them.. just be your self.. seroiusly and you should not care what they think.. i know that is easier said than done but just think about that !!!show them your fun side and I promise you may not become the most popular girl in school or in anything but people will start noticing you ... show them that they dont matter if you show them that you care about what they think then they will keep on makin you feel weird just take my advice and take it in...

Hey it's like me!
by: Meghan

I'm still very shy around plenty of people in school but I'm not a bit outside of school. I've realised, though, that if you mess up slot of people will laugh at you. I've always been a very awkward person. Hardly anyone knows what I'm ever talking about. But that's the way I am. It's something you have to learn for yourself and you will someday. Trust me. It helps to try and friends with people who mess up a lot just like u. Because then they won't feel they're in a position to criticize. Xox

Same Problem
by: Jess

I used to be the exact same way. Eventually i just stopped caring what people would think of me. I'd rather them know the real me and if they liked me they did and if they didn't oh well. I didn't want to leave school and feel like only a hand full of people understood me. The courage will come to you with every step you take.
