Should I date someone three years older than me?

I just turned seventeen, and I am currently in college studying to become a pediatric nurse. I never dated in high school because I believed it was not God's will for my life. Whenever I would have a crush on someone I would ask God to take away those feelings if it was not His will for me to date that person. I met an amazing man of God at my church a couple of months ago. However, he just turned twenty. It may sound a little kind of corny but the first time I meet him something clicked inside of me. We both love to do the same things. The fact that he has an absolute passion for God and children just makes my heart soar.

I have been praying about this and I have asked God to take away my feelings for this guy, if it was His will, but He hasn't. Since God has not taken away my feelings for this man I am confused if I should date him; since he is three years older than me. I truly want to follow my life according to God's plan. I believe dating should be a way to find a man to marry. I take prospect of dating very seriously. I have never had a boy friend because I have been waiting for the man God wants me to be with. People tell me that because, I am only seventeen I should just date for fun, not to find a husband. However, I can not remove that desire in my heart to find a Godly man to marry. I believe God has place that in my heart for a reason.

Please give me advice on whether or not I should date someone three years older than me. Please, more than anything pray that I will be able to follow God's will for my life.

Precious, know what I love about the LORD? There is a Promise He has made to His beloved (that's you). He has promised to give us peace as an umpire - light for our paths - never-leaving Companion to guide and keep us in our way.

It's so beautiful and wise for you to seek His will about dating this young man. Since you're unsure, how about a group of you go out on a outing? Get to know him that way - become friends and continue to ask the Father to reveal why the both of you have met - He will precious, rest on that.

God bless you precious, please keep us posted!

I'm 17 and I would go for it. :) I know a guy who's 20....who I have had a crush on for EVER...and if I had the chance I'd go for him in a heart beat. He sounds very much like the guy you've met. Congrats for finding such a good guy, don't let him slip through your fingers. PS: props to you for giving your dating life over to God. That's awesome!!! :)

I feel the same way....

Hey Girl, I just wanna let u know that I feel the same way about guys/dating. It's great you have been praying about it and I think u should just continue to pray about until this "guy" approaches u about dating him and then let God lead u from there. I am 16 and have never kissed/dated any guy and only want to if he's the man I wanna marry. LOL
Love Ya In Christ,
God Bless
