It may and it may not, it depends on how old the kids are. My parents divorced when I was two. I don't think I was really hurt by it. I don't care much for my dads new wife, but I don't have to live with her. Each situation is different, there is a possibility they could get back together, just know that getting back together and splitting up repeatedly is probably worse then just splitting up for good. The kids will get through it, try and be part of their life. They will need something stable.
Brother's separation

It is hard to see a family going through pain, and I think it is wise to be thinking of the children at a time like this. I am sure they will go through some struggles, as it is always hard to have broken what was once whole, that being their family structure. Not knowing the situation, I would say that it is important for them to know and continue to know they are loved, despite what is going on with their parents. I don't know how close you are to them, but being a friend to them right now is important. I will pray for your brother and his wife, as they are surely going through some kind of suffering, and also that they may make wise decisions on how to talk with and in what light to portray this separation to their children. I pray they will keep the children out of any fighting and not make them choose sides. I also pray that this family knows God, and if they do not, that they will somehow feel His hand on them in this difficult time, knowing that He will bring them strength.
