When the pain won't stop
by: Jaime

I don't have the magic words to make you instantly stop hurting, though I would if I could. Someone has taken something away from you, but only you have the power to take back that respect. Ask yourself what you want for you? Nothing is ever easy, but when you decide that you won't let the hurt control you, you can take back your life. This all sounds so easy, but the truth is it is a process, a process that won't take days, weeks, or even a year to fix, but will get easier as long as you learn to love yourself and surround yourself with people that care about you.

I know how hard it is

In the Same boat!!!

I was molested by my grandfather from the time i was 7 till the time I was 10 so I understand exactly how you are feeling. I found out later he molested my older cousin before me. I recently started cutting after starting counciling. While counciling did start my cutting I feel like i am finally adressing a huge life issue.

Have you told anyone? I was given so many amazing ideas to help stop myself. I have a happy kit filled with alternatives to reduce stress before I have to cut. I started sketching, charcoaling, lighting candles, painting my nails, reading, listening to music, I even have a chocolate bar in there. It is kind of a personal thing that works for you.

When I do so many things and still need to cut I journal it. I write what I am feeling, what I have done instead, why I feel I need to cut, and how I will feel the next day. Even if I still need to cut at least I know I made an effort and it is something me and my councilor have been using as a tool to pin point triggers.

I highly recommend telling someone if you haven't already. I know it is hard!!! It took me three weeks to work up the nerve to tell my councilor and that was with my roommates finding out. It is not something I like to talk about but is really does help.

Just give it a thought and if you cant do it atleast try and find alternatives that are relaxing for you. I know it is not easy,I am still dealing with it everyday but I have hope and I have hope for you too.

GOOD LUCK and GOD BLESS!!!!
