Unrealisitc Role Model

by Madison

Barbie gives young girls everywhere a "successful woman" to look up to. But in reality, she is setting an unrealistically high standard for girls to measure themselves too.

Every adult knows that Barbie is not a real person. But little girls aren't so aware. They all think that when they grow up, they will be just like her. If they were, in fact, just like Barbie, they would be dead. Given her proportions, if Barbie were real, she wouldn't be able to stand, walk, or even function as a normal person.

With that said, I think Barbie should be re-invented as a healthy, adult woman with curves in the appropriate places and a woman without a "stick figure." Because news flash, boys, if you want a girl like Barbie, good luck. Only way that's going to happen is if you go to the store and buy one.
