complicated competition

theres this guy in my class that i really like. i used to be his second choice, his first was his ex, who didnt like him. last week they started going out again. the first time they went out, they spent ALL of their time together, sat together at lunch, changed their facebook relationship status, and talked ALL the time. this time, they dont sit together, they're both still single on fb, they DONT talk AT ALL and they seem really awkward together. i think he is realizing she's not the only one who lost her love for him- he did too. now even though theyre "going out", hes talking to me and flirting with me more than her. hes a Christian and hes a really sweet guy. i think they just dont know how to break up since neither of them really like each other. i know hes trying to do the right thing, but he cant figure it out. what should i do?? should i show him that i like him even though they havent broken up yet?? or should i wait and hope they break up before the end of school???

Hello!
It sounds like the boy MAY be tricking you. He may just want you to think he has a girlfriend so he can be, what you all call it, "popular". OR, he may not even like the girl and he likes you. It sounds to me, it's either-or, no in-between.
Also, at your age there is no "love". Love is when you would sacrifice your entire self to your loved one, and at your age, I highly doubt it. :)
Take a shot though. Sit down with him (or call!) and have a serious conversation about it. Say how you feel. You'll never know unless you try! Who knows, you maybe right and he could like you!
