worst enemy

by Fiona
(Texas)

I try to avoid her

But it's impossible, you see
Because my own worst enemy
Is inside of me
She lives inside the mirror
Laughing at what she sees
Because I'll never be enough
says my own worst enemy.
She points out the flaws
and the bulges and fat
She says I should be better than that.
Because in her perfect mirror world
where everything is her reflection
There is no room for curves
No room for imperfection.
Her nose is high and mighty
her attitude screams "get behind me!"
and I try to ignore her vanity.
But it's hard, you see,
Because my own worst enemy
lives inside of me.
