What is it about beauty that draws? Beauty is such a powerful motivator in many people's lives. Money is spent on buying the make-up and the clothing, time is spent in making sure that our appearance is just right. Yet in fact beauty has become what it was never meant to be, an idol. I hated how I looked, every time I looked in the mirror I saw someone so ugly and undesirable. Yet I wanted to be beautiful. It was a desire deep within my heart. My self-image became an idol, one I could never satisfy enough with how much or little I ate. The Lord broke into my life in a powerful way and began to show me that my desire for beauty was not something bad, but just misplaced.

For God looks at the heart of a man, not his outward appearance. 1 Samuel 16:7. In my heart was self-hatred that I had to lay down at the foot of the cross, renounce and repent of it and begin the journey of seeing myself as God sees me.

Do you see yourself as he sees you?
Is the way you look more important than what is inside your heart?
What is true beauty to you?

He Says I am BEAUTIFUL.

Song of Songs 1:15 How beautiful you are, my darling! Oh, how beautiful!

Song of Songs 4:7 "All beautiful you are, my darling; there is no flaw in you."

Song of Songs 7:1 "How beautiful your sandaled feet, O prince's daughter! Your graceful legs are like jewels, the work of a craftsman's hands."

Psalm 45:11 "The king greatly desires your beauty..."

GOD DESIRES MY BEAUTY, I AM CALLED BEAUTIFUL BY HIM. For so long I was called ugly, fat and undesirable, but there is a greater word over me that God has spoken. He declares I AM BEAUTIFUL. If you are struggling with your self image cry out to JESUS to set you free from your false perceptions of beauty and the wrong ways you see yourself. Repent for the lies you have believed and lay them down at the cross and recieve his truth. YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL!

TRUE BEAUTY

True Beauty is not defined by anything in this world, but found in something that is beyond this world. It is God himself. God is beautiful, captivating, fascinating and drawing. He is brilliant, shining, color, light, and life. (Revelation 4)

Think about it...

Psalm 27:4 "One thing I ask of the Lord, this is what I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze upon the BEAUTY of the Lord and to seek him in his temple."

THINK ABOUT IT

What does it mean to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord?

One Thing PDF

Instead of looking at what the world calls beautiful, I should look at the one who is beauty, who created beauty in the first place. His beauty has captured my heart and I am in love with this God who is beautiful, to know him and love him, serve him and worship him, this is to be my life. His beauty is unfading and unchanging, and the longer we gaze upon the eternal beauty we begin to be transformed and changed to look like him. CHECK OUT Romans 12:1-2 and 2 Corinthians 3:18.

QUESTIONS:

How can I spend more time gazing upon the beauty of the Lord? (ex:reading the bible, meditating on it, worship...)

How will I rearrange my priorities to put loving God first in my life? (see Mark 12:30)

As women we are created in his image to reflect his beauty. It is a beauty that comes not from the outside, but from within.

1 Peter 3:3-4 "Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as braided hair and the wearing of gold jewelry and fine clothes.
Instead, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God's sight."

MEDITATE On it:
(Sing the verse, say it, pray it, write it, declare it over your own life)

What does this mean to me?

Proverbs 31:30

"Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised."

IN CONCLUSION:

Your desire to be beautiful is not wrong. It is from God, he created beauty because he is BEAUTIFUL. His desire is that we would see ourselves as he see's us, that we would stop looking through the eyes of the world and start looking through his eyes of love and desire for us. Did you know that GOD loves you like a bridegroom loves his bride? (check out Isaiah 62) That he sent Jesus to redeem his bride by his blood? You are the bride of Christ, he desires YOU, your inner beauty and for you to love him every day of your life. You are a daughter of the Most High King of Kings and Lord of Lord's, you are BEAUTIFUL, because you are a reflection of who God is.

PRAYER:
Jesus open up the eyes of my heart that I may see myself as you see me. I declare the truth over my life that I am beautiful to you and repent and renounce the lies that tell me otherwise. I come to you Father God and ask you to renew my mind and fill me with the truth of my beauty to you. I also ask Lord that you would teach me about who you are, I want to be capture by your beauty. It is the one thing I desire in my life, to know you and love you. In the Name of Jesus, AMEN!

Clarification

Please help me understand why you ask a person to "repent for believing a lie"?

Re: clarification
by: Anonymous

In asking to repent for believing the lie you are asking the Lord to forgive you for holding unto what is contrary to His word and what he says about you. For example if you believe you are ugly and God says you are beautiful you have to choose to break away from the lie through repentance and choosing to believe the truth of scripture. It isn't always easy to do this but if we want to be free we have to let go of what is false.

Give God the power
by: Anonymous

Satan, who is opposed to God wants us to believe His lies. He would have us to believe that we are not beautiful or good enough and would love us to feel miserable about the way we are. Lies can come in all sorts of ways, "I'm not good enough, I feel so fat." or "I wish I looked like____." Magazines do not help and often feed these kinds of lies. We must reject these thoughts when they come so that the evil one has no power over our mind. Whenever a negative thought comes along, place God's truth over it. This gives the power to God. Believe His truth about who you are. You are a child of the most high God. Repent (apologise) to God for believing the enemies lies and turn to His truth about how valuable and precious you are in His sight. Pray to God in all things. He will be your strenth and hope. God will shine through you as you fix your mind on His truth from the Bible.
