Someone I know who I think is anorexic

I know a teenage girl whom does not consider herself but anorexic, but is. She pigs out every once in awhile, but then cries afterward and constantly looks in the mirror wondering and hoping she wont 'blow up'. She waits anywhere from 12 to 24 hours before she eats again.

She does not know what to do. She feels caged, trapped, as if there is no place to turn. Feeling in control for her is a big issue. Everything else is unpredictable, so she feels this is the only thing SHE can take over.

What is true..
by: Julie

I encourage you to read Philippians Chapter 4 in order to gain courage to pray for and encourage your friend to find what is true about herself and how much God loves her and all his children. I would especially look at the verse stating: "whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute...dwell on these things."
It's very hard to focus on everything that is out of control in life, but sometimes remembering how much GOD is in control even when our own reality is not what we'd like it to be can be so comforting. I'm praying for your friend and for you to have the knowledge you need both in that friendship, with other friends, or even with yourself if there are any temptations for supressing food intake and looking to food as a defense against life. I know personally how detrimental it can be to shift focus so dramatically and feel like your life is revolved around something so far from the things on the list in Phillipians.

With God's strength we are all capable of encouraging each other to seek God and remember His love.

Peace be with you,
Julie

if you think she's anorexic, i think you need to confront her about it. just tell her that you're really worried about her and just let her know that if she needs anyone to talk or pray with, you're there..maybe you could talk to a pastor or youth leader or an adult you trust.
