shattered glass poem
by iyanth
(miami, fla)
shattered glass splashed everywhere
shouts of, “hopeless – worthless!”
filled the air
“no more use – throw it away!”
the angry accusers were quick to say
o but the Potter simply knelt with smile
as He picked up each shattered dream
of that broken life
He knew the day had finally come
that this broken vessel
was now willing to be used by Him
so He redeemed it
restored it into better stock
and as the scorners looked on in angry shock
behold!
from His hands now was raised
formerly broken glass
but now it stands a vessel of praise!...
all this did I see and come to understand
that the real tragedy in life
is not to have known pain
rather it is in not knowing how to begin again
it’s when you don’t know the power of the Potter’s hand
i know these words are simple and yet they’re true
for this once broken vessel knows firsthand
what faith in the Lord can do
and if you would want it just follow after me
with your mouth confess and in your heart believe
that by faith in His Son, you are now redeemed
yea from those broken pieces of guilt, regrets and shame
the Potter will remake you, reform you
into a vessel of praise!
