Seeking God's Guidence...

by Grace
(United States)

I met a guy at my school, and he's come to mean a lot to me, but he graduated last month. I'm only 16. I haven't been able to see him outside of school because my parents and his parents don't really want us to see each other. I understand their concerns and know that I need to honor their wishes, but I miss him. Talking to him online just makes me frustrated; I am not very fond of computers. I don't know what to do. I can't just live never knowing when I'll be able to see him again. I thought maybe I needed to tell him that we would just have to be friends at heart and not speak to each other any more, but I don't think that's being 'true to myself'. I truly feel that God put him in my life for a reason; I just don't exactly know what that reason is yet. What should I do? Do you know of any scripture verses I could go to for guidance?

Prayer is the path of guidance
by: Simi

Grace, God does put certain people on our lives for a reason whether they leave good or bad footprints in our lives. The impact left behind is always one to learn from.

I am not sure what the relationship is with you and this guy; perhaps you are just friends or more than that it is hard to say. However what I would say to you is that do not defile your parents in this matter, trust me they know best (at times) especially when it comes to this matter simply because they have been there and will not close their eyes and let you be led astray. Only a parent who loves you dearly will rebuke you from doing what may harm you.

Seek God in your prayers concerning this guy, ask him for guidance and to open your eyes to see what or who this person really is and also what part they will play in your life. You will be amazed about the revelations (it might even be you who the person needs in their life to impact)

Here are some verses you can read and remind God in your prayers; God bless you

Psalm 37:4,7
Delight yourself also in the Lord, and He shall give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord, trust also in Him, and He shall bring it to pass ... Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for Him

Proverbs 3:5
Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.

James 1:5
If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all generously and without reproach.

Proverbs 12:26
A righteous man is cautious in friendship, but the way of the wicked leads them astray.

1 Cor. 10:13
...God is faithful and he will not let you be tempted beyond your strength, but with the temptation will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.
