Sealed Lips.

As I have grown up, I have slowly began to realize the pain that comes with gossip on both ends of the spectrum. Gossip hurts and the only one true way to avoid they pain? Don't do it. A couple of years ago, in the eight grade, I spread a rumor, about an old friend of mine and her boyfriend. It was Halloween, and a girl had gotten back from Trick-or-Treating. I asked her where the other girl who she had been with was, the response was juicy however it was a joke. I didn't take it that way and by the next morning I told my circle of friends who told their friends. By noon at lunchtime, it was the topic of conversation. I was called down to the guidance office to discuss the pain that the other girl was in. I felt terrible. I thought that what it was a juicy story and pain was not my intention. Unfortunatly, even months after this event people were still upset with me. My mom received a phone call from the girls mother and my mom found out. I never knew how painful it would be to have my mom find out, I let her down big time. After that incident and maturing I have slowly eased away from the gossip path and onto the righteous path that God has laid out for me. Occasionaly I find myself gossiping or "spicing up stories", however, after I do say something, I have a huge sense of guilt and try to keep my mouth shut. It is a work in progress, however, with prayer and caution I know I can overcome this weakness for good.

Sowing Seeds
by: Anonymous

It is wonderful that you are fighting the temptation to gossip, which is the right thing to do. I doing so, pray and ask God to forgive you for the things you have said for whatever reason you said them. Because the very things you have said are like seeds sown, and whatever we plant will come to harvest. Begin to pray and ask God to forgive and the people you have hurt ask for forgiveness. Remember Jesus lives in them as well as you, so whatever you say about them you are saying that about Christ. "Don't let the evil get the best of you, get the best of evil by doing good." Romans 12:21

Gossip
by: Stephanie

I'm glad that you have decided to try to stay away from gossiping. It's one of those temptations that we are constantly coming into encounter with and is hard to avoid. Many of times we go along with gossip or even contribute to gossip as people not because we are bad but because we think it makes us accepted within crowds of friends or people or find it a form of entertainment. The truth about gossip though is that it's painful and it can hurt people very badly. Next time you go to gossip ask yourself how you would feel if someone started the same rumor or gossip about you?
