My only problem is myself..

by Melissa
(West Virginia)

I have just recently been engaged and I am absolutely thrilled! My relationship with my fiance is amazing. We are best friends and we can have a blast together. The only time there is tension between us is when I become insecure. It has become so severe at times that life seems miserable. I am scared to go to movies with him because of the girls that star in them. I hate going to the mall with him because we will eventually have to walk by Victoria's Secret. Part of me knows that it is ridiculous and he even tells me sometimes that it's just advertisement and that there are ripped guys in pictures everywhere too. What makes me feel even worse is that I don't even notice the pictures of the guys because I am so focused on sizing myself up with the women in the pictures everywhere. What can I do to get passed this problem? And is there anything he can do to help me? I just keep thinking about how many more amazing times we could have if I didn't cloud up every time a pretty girl came into view.

Beauty on the Inside
by: Sarah

From the picture you attached, you ARE beautiful! And no I'm not just saying that.
Sometimes, I size myself to other girls at school or models in magazines. But when I find myself doing that I immediently go to the verse,Psalm 139:13-14.
"For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well."
God created YOU. He made your hair blonde, He made you a certain height, He formed your smile, He gave you your heart, He gave you the eye color you have. To Him, your His very own, beautiful creation that He wouldn't trade for anything. Those girls in the magazine and in the movies, they're NOT you. Thats the point! You're husband to be, loves you for you. Not those other girls, not for you beauty, but for YOU.
Don't size yourself up to other girls, if you do, pray and ask God to give you a peace about being secure and confident in your own body.
Praying always.
Love, a sister in Christ

When I saw the picture, I thought "Wow, she's gorgeous." That was before I read your post. And I honestly thought that! Please remember that you are gorgeous, but most importantly you are gorgeous in God's eyes!
