Just a million drops of pouring rain

just any summer day,

little did we know
that everything would change.
just a flash of lightning,
a million drops of pouring rain.
just a crash of thunder,
just a blind spot,
just a shifting shadow,
just blood on the wet pavement.
just a scream, calls to 911.
just a million prayers for a miracle.
moments of confused chaos and tears.
just some wet kids shivering, shocked,
in a library.
just girls crying,
people pleading for his life.
just police, witnesses, ambulance.
flashing lights and sirens drowned out by a storm.
just a call to meet together,
just a pastor to share the news.
he was gone,
the boy on the pavement was singing
at the throne of the Father.
just a wail, 2 am, the sky was blue.
the shifting shadows at the window,
the discouraged servants of God sat together,
wet, messy, distraught, crying.
but even though all hope was gone,
the world and media thought they'd give up,
they couldnt let the devil win.
even in their grieving,
they overcame the evil.
not by their own strength,
only through God.
