I Wish;;

by Tiffany
(North Carolina)

I wish you could be me for a day then maybe you could see how it feels to be ignored. Don't you know how hard it is when you get up on that stage and sing every sunday, how your voice puts me in a spell; how your smile makes my heart race, how your voice makes my stomach turn. But you don't know how it feels and you never will and thats the part that hurts. I told you how i felt and you left it alone, broken heart and crushed dreams is all you gave me. I only could wish you could be me for a day then you could feel my pain, the suffering of having to see the one you love, not love you back. So another Sunday will pass, you'll glance at me i'll smile back knowing you can never feel the way i do about you and i'll sit and hear you sing and cry out in desperation that you would love me only.
i can only wish...

Adjusting Focus
by: S'ambrosia

Tiffany,
Your poem reminded me a lot of myself when I read it. I've totally been in the place you described, and I think you did a great job of putting your feelings into words. I would like to encourage you though to remember the focus of church. It sounds like this guy sings each Sunday at your church, and by your last line it seems like when you go to church he's all you're able to focus on.

Remember that when you go to church, it's an opportunity for you to encounter the presence of God with your brothers and sisters in Christ. Instead of watching the person singing, listen to the words he's singing and turn your heart towards God. Everything that you're feeling concerning this guy can be mended, but only if you fix your eyes on the right person. Keep your eyes fixed on the REAL prize and the desires of your heart will be satisfied:)
