I Was Adopted

by Roxanna
(Jackson, Ky U.S)

At the age of five, I had to make a very hard decision. I was scared, afraid, and I didn't know what to do. I knew there was a God in Heaven who loved me, but I was too little to understand. Well, that's what I think.

My parents didn't want me, so I was put up for adoption, you know how little kids can be. They don't understand things like you do when you get older. Sure I asked questions about my real parents. After awhile I learned not to ask questions.

Well, since then my parents told me the truth about them. It's hard and I can understand you feel like you want to cry. The thing you should do when you feel this way is to find a friend and tell them how you feel and they will let you cry on their shoulders. I had to learn to do this. It may you look like you're a big cry baby. But it will help you alot.

I Know How It Feels...
by: Sami-Jo

I know how it feels to be put up for adoption. I was when I was 5/6 years old. I'm not really sure, all I remember is that my foster family would no longer be my family and I was going to a new family. Not long after being told this, I was basically adopted by my gma and gpa but I was still getting child support for my mother.

So know how you feel. Hang in their and yeah it feels good to cry.

Thanks for sharing!

Roxy,
Thank you for being honest and sharing about your experience in being adopted! I'm sure there are many others that can relate to your story.

Everyone's experience is different and unique as to why they were adopted and why it is hard for them. I can imagine that one of the reasons adoption is hard is due to the feelings of being rejected or abandoned....not being wanted.

Do you realize that God talks about adoption in the bible?

Rom 8:14-17 (NKJV) says,

"For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are (daughters) of God. For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, "Abba, Father."

The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, then heirs--heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together."

I love that thought of being adopted as God's daughter....because no matter what kind of family I grew up in and what type of father I had, I can now have a new father and a new family where I am completely, thoroughly and perfectly loved, accepted and chosen.

I have struggled at times with the lies of not being wanted or not being good enough (being rejected). God is slowly showing me how to replace those lies with truth of who I am in Christ. I pray He does the same thing for you!
