how to not entertain or become hopeless to bad thoughts

by brandon

i often feel defeated because the past can be undone. bad thoughts strike me at all times of the day, especially at night. is there anything i can do to stop them from returning? i am really trying to stop them from coming back. i often feel hopeless, a victim of bad thoughts. i reject them but i still fear god will hold them against me. please pray for me, my name is brandon.

Think on these things...
by: Grace

Dear Brandon,
First off the Word of God says;
"Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things." Philippians 4:8 So there you have it! A list of things to think about!
I know what it's like to struggle with wrong thoughts, I too strugle, especialy at night. I commend you for your courage in coming forward with you problem, and wanting to do something about it.
You know what helps me? When ever wrong thoughts or desires come to mind, use it as a trigger to pray, or recite scripture. The devil is less likely to tempt you if he knows everytime you are tempted with bad thoughts you will stop to meditate on scripture, pray, read the Bible, or memorize.
Don't get discouraged, God is ALWAYS ready to forgive His children.
I will pray for you. God bless you with good thoughts! And if you wouldn't mind, could you pray for me too?
Love & Blessing be upon you,
Your sister in Christ,
Grace

Pure and Beautiful Thoughts!
by: Lucy Mae

Brandon, your sister in Christ, Grace, just answered your question dead on! But guess what? I struggle with it too! The devil loves to get in our thoughts- through the things we watch, the music we listen too, even the people who surround us. In the name of Jesus, I declare that you would have pure and beautiful thoughts! I know at night, especially when I am sleeping, the devil tries to attack me because i can't really control what i think about or dream about. So what has really helped me is doing a little Bible study before i go to bed. Also, surround your environment with God. What I mean by this, is when you go to bed, try playing some christian music or a sermon. I have dealt with a lot of spirtual warfare and my mentor taught me that every night, ask the Lord to surround you with his angels because the devil will camp outside of you and get into your thoughts when you least expect it! I hope this helps and remember, trust in the Lord for He will give you the strength to give you pure and beautiful thoughts!

Freedom by the Power of a Renewed Mind
by: Anonymous

Brandon, practically speaking, you have to "eat" God's Word - read it, quote it - make your confession of It through out the day and surround yourself with "songs of deliverance" - (gospel music).
You're in a warfare Brandon - but you are more than a conqueror because of Him Who shed His Blood to purchase for you a brand new life.
Brandon, every Promise of God is true. You have lived some time in the world and trained your mind to think along that line. But now you are a member of a different kingdom, and you must be transformed, changed by the renewing of your mind. It can only be renewed with the input of some new information. It's not done overnight; but little by little, you will find yourself thinking differently - you will come to know the power of a renewed mind.
Brandon, before you go to bed, pray for the knowledge of God's Presence and Love to fill your heart, mind and soul. Put on music that honors Him, let it play all night. In the morning, put on a teaching tape. Read Psalms and sometimes sing a Psalm to yourself - it helps you to remember and it really boosts your spirit. You may also want to read the Book of John.
Brandon, you're going to be just fine - God loves you and wants to use you. Be strong in the LORD and the power of His might; putting on the whole armour of God, remaining steadfast and confident in His Love for you!
God bless.
