Comparing

"She's so much prettier than me. She could have any guy that she wants! I wish I was just like her."
These are just understatements of what most teen girls struggle with today. All they do is compare themselves to others and nothing else. What else can they do? Our society has, basically, trained them do this. It has said to think that they are not skinny enough, tall or short enough, pretty enough and many more things.
"She is so much prettier than me," is the first, and probably the most, statement that teen girls use. Beauty is such a big factor in any woman's life, and sometimes, I don't get why. We were all created equal in God's eyes. All girls and woman are so beautiful to him. But, truth is, that's not enough for most of them. They seek "media attention". Wishing they could be more like the models or pop stars they see on t.v.
"She can have any guy she wants!" is the next statement used by teen girls. I know from experience that this is almost always true. I have struggled with many of the "popular girls" getting all the attention, and I hated it. Then, I realized that I had the most popular and powerful guy that anyone could get: God. Even though it may seem that you want a big shot guy on earth, you've already got one in your heart, if you really want him there. There is one true guy out there for every girl, but only you wait. In the meantime, let God be your center of attention, and ignore all of the other guys that are nothing COMPARED to the one true God.
The Bible says "do not envy", which makes the "I wish I was just like her" statement hard to get rid of in a girl's mind. Most teen, Christian girls envy another girls looks, personality, sense of humor or anything else good about them. Maybe it's not even the "popular girl", but they all do it one time or another. I'm not going to only lecture about how envying is wrong, but help you be directed to what is right. Look in the mirror every morning and find one good thing about yourself. The list will never run out, for God created you very unique, and each girl has many great qualities.
