Compare Yourself to Christ
Here I was, 9, getting my books from my locker, looking around to start my daily routine of boosting up my confidence. I compared my outfit to the next girl "Yep.I look goooood". During break I rushed in to the bathroom where all the other girls were, checked my hair but checked everyone else's hair to compare it. "Ugh. My hair. It's a mess! I spent 20 minutes fixing it, but it's no where good as hers..."
And I grew tired of this, I grew tired of being someone I was not. I'm the type of girl that likes to dress up, but also likes to wake up in the morning, slip on some jeans, brush your hair and out the door. Nothing special. And God caught my attention...
1 Peter 3:3
"Beauty doesn't come from hairstyles, from gold, jewelry or clothes. Rather, beauty is something internal that can't be destroyed."
So I tested myself and for a whole week I went without wearing make up, wearing whatever made me feel comfortable and just wore the smile God gave me to feel beautiful. Instead of spending 20 minutes every morning staring at myself in the mirror, I read my Bible-the place where you find TRUE beauty.
And ironically, that week I received more compliments then any of the days. That week I felt more real then ever.
It's not up to your outward image to define you. It's your HEART that defines you.
1 Samuel 16:7
"The LORD does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart.”
Don't compare yourself to the world, but to Christ.
